Typically the pump rebuild kits needs a rebuild kit every 12 months to 18 months. It is relatively easy to replace. The rebuild parts are considered a “wear and tear” item and not covered under the warranty.
- If the motor still hums but no air flow then it can be rebuilt.
- Sometimes the piston will stick and again a rebuild kit can fix it.
- plug it in and tell us if it makes any noise or hums.
- If hums but does not turn over then the top head can be removed with 4 Allen screws and the inside top of piston can be seen. If the pistons can be pushed up and down by hand or finger and it gives a hum or tries to start then again it needs a rebuild kit.

Matala MPC 120 Rocking Piston Rebuild Kit
Kit worked as anticipated. Instructions are week, take pictures as you disassemble. First re-build on this unit, note the factory torqued the cylinder head bolts so tight I had to use large vice grips on the hex head to break all 8 free. Also appears that the cylinder o-rings were glued into the receiving slot, so it took a couple of hours to dig them out w/o scratching the metal. Kit good, albeit expensive for what you get, compressor frustrating, but will be much easier from now on to do re-builds.
